Originally from Boston, Lincs, I live in Morley, Leeds. I'm an Education and Participation Coordinator for Freedom Studios, a Bradford based theatre company, and have worked in participatory arts and education for 20+ years. When I'm not busy nagging my teenage son to get the hell off youtube, I also DJ and present a radio show with Buffet on BCB Radio.
I've been happily snapping pictures since my art teacher let me loose on an old Pentax in the 1980s (cheers, Mr Crowe).
In 2017 I was awarded funding by Arts Council England (Grants for the Arts) and Leeds Inspired to create 'The Real Princesses of Yorkshire.' This is my first funded project as an artist. Read more here.
My approach is candid, I like to capture things as they happen, and feel it's pretty important not to get in the way (or at least get out of the way quickly). If that means I miss a shot, so be it. I mostly photograph events, particularly performing arts, and tend to use available light. I recently dabbled in wedding photography (see my 'Occasions' gallery), which I loved, but if you're after staged, posed pictures of your big day I'm probably not your girl...
